TSI: the index of choice

Physical markets
Steel prices are volatile and unpredictable, making planning increasingly difficult and margin management a headache. More and more industry participants have realised that index-based pricing offers a sustainable mechanism better suited to the challenges of today's market conditions. For more information on index-linking contact Tim Hard hard@thesteelindex.com

Financial markets
TSI supplies the reference prices for HRC steel financial contracts cleared on LCH.Clearnet, CME Group Clearing Europe (CMECE) and the Singapore Exchange (SGX). LCH.Clearnet provides a clearing service for two European Over-the-Counter (OTC) HRC steel swap contracts, settling against TSI's Northern and Southern European HRC prices respectively (Click here to see the press release). CMECE lists a European HRC steel contract, settled using TSI's North European HRC price and SGX lists Asian HRC futures and swap contracts settled using TSI's index for HRC Asean imports.
